Friday - Coshopping and Customizing

And now, we present our findings and suggestions to our customer, add on any relevant comfort or capability items, and decide on what labor items will get the customer's bike tuned up and running at full steam! Check out the video below, then check out the activity to work on your own tuneup pitch!

Developing your tuneup pitch

Most bikes coming through your door will be receiving one of our three tuneups. Developing an effective pitch for these tuneups will help you communicate the value of the higher end service packages, save time, and ultimately get your customer's bike in its best possible condition.

Take a few minutes to review the latest Ernie's tuneup packages, then think about what your pitch sounds like. Ask yourself:

  • Do I have a pitch at all, or do I just shoot from the hip?
  • Do I always start from the top and work down?
  • What are the critical bullet points of each tuneup? Am I hitting them?
  • Is there any extra fluff in my pitch? If I had to eliminate something, what would it be?
  • With those questions in mind, think about your pitch, and don't be afraid to jot down some notes to refer to while you refine your spiel. Next, grab a bike, pair up with a coworker, and pitch them on our tuneups. Remember to connect specific issues with labor items when you are at the tuneup level you are recommending. Once you're done, switch roles and run it back. Give each other feedback on what works and what could improve. Most importantly, think about that feedback while you're on the floor, and debrief to further refine your pitch with real-world results!
