Week 6 - Phone and Text Message Roleplay/Electric Bike Basics

Activity: Phone and Text Message Roleplay

Each day, roleplay two new scenarios from the Phone Roleplay sheet linked below to practice some common phone interactions. Discuss with the group afterward to brainstorm how you might improve your greeting, opportunities for good questions, and how the call would be best followed up on.

Then, use the link below to work on text message replies, remembering the lessons we learned from the Ikeono article last week.

Assignment: Electric Bike Basics

It's no secret that electric bikes are a huge part of the cycling industry (and our bike shop). E-bikes are awesome for all riders, but they're an especially important tool for getting inexperienced riders out on bikes. As you check out this week's links, think about how you can communicate the benefits of electric bikes (and the advantages of getting one from Ernie's) to a novice rider.

Huddle Discussions

Check out each day's link during the corresponding morning huddle, then discuss. Use the questions below as a starting point for your discussions, but don't limit yourself - think hard about how the concepts can relate to you and your shop!

  • Sunday: How Electric Bikes Work
  • Tuesday: E-Bike Specs
  • Wednesday: Electric Bike Classes
  • Thursday: Trek E-Bike Philosophy
  • Friday: Verve+
  • Saturday: Dual Sport+
  • Think about these questions when discussing the videos in the huddle:

  • You're the local e-bike experts. Do you know Stark Parks policy on electric bikes? How about the National Park? What about for on-road use?
  • Customer attention is our most valuable commodity. How can you communicate the most important electric bike information without getting bogged down in the details?
  • Electric bike customers often bring in lots of outside research. How do you navigate that on the sales floor, especially when their research may contradict your advice (I need a bike with big tires!)?
